Listening, Consoling, Teaching and Accompanying
November 21, 2017
In a letter to the Capuchin Brothers throughout the world, our General Minister, Br. Mauro, wrote this reflection on Blessed Solanus: "The people began to understand that Br. Solanus was not a functionary or bureaucrat, but someone who welcomed them and listened to them, bringing everyone’s difficulties and sufferings to his prayer to the Lord. The fruits of this were not lacking; Br. Solanus found himself busy all day listening, consoling, teaching, and accompanying many people."
On Saturday, November 18, 350+ Capuchin Brothers gathered in Ford Field to witness the fruits of his labor, as 71,000 people came together to celebrate this humble man's holy life and example. An example that we are called to live today, as Capuchin's and people of faith from every walk of life. Doing what Solanus did, simple things that have great and lasting impact in lives: listening, consoling, teaching and accompanying. In these simple acts God worked marvelous deeds through Blessed Solanus, and will keep pouring out his love throughout hands and hearts today! Blessed Solanus, pray for us!
