Brushes in the Hand of the Master

Judges 6:11-24a; Matthew 19:23-30
God is the Master of the art of the possible, even in the face of what seems impossible.
Gideon, who was part of a family with little social status and considered himself “the most insignificant member” that family, became the “champion” God chose to serve his people. When Jesus’ disciples heard him say how difficult it was for the rich to enter God’s kingdom at a time when it was presumed that wealth was a sign of one’s righteousness and God’s favor, they wondered if anyone could then be saved. Yet many of them became pillars of the early church.
God uses the palette of divine graces and virtues to create great things on the blank canvas of possibility. Are we willing to serve as God’s brushes?—JC
