Individualized Discernment

Sometimes, you just can’t make scheduled vocation events. There’s work. There’s school. There are family events. Sometimes you’re just a little too late. It just doesn’t always work out.

That happened to new Inquirers Brenton Ertel and Anthony Kote Witah. They came into contact with the Capuchin Vocation Office after the November Ministry Weekend in Detroit.  But considering an application to postulancy this year, they wanted that experience to help make a better decision.

So, Brenton and I checked our calendars and the weather, and planned a Detroit visit within 10 days (Brenton is from Racine WI.). Once it was schedule for Brenton, I extended the invitation to Anthony who lives in Metro Milwaukee. We packed our three days full as we could: one day traveling in each direction, with visits to the Solanus Center, the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, and Capuchin Retreat on the middle day.

Thanks to the friars at St. Bonaventure Monastery who hosted us and to the ministry directors who shared their stories.

If you’re having trouble making the scheduled vocation events or have a need to experience something not on the schedule, call me to find out what we can do together: 313-595-2182.
